Constituent Assembly indigenous caucus gets new office building

KATHMANDU: Constituent Assembly Chairperson Subas Nembang today inaugurated the newly established office of the Indigenous Caucus of the Constituent Assembly (ICCA) in Anamnagar.
Inaugurating the office, various CA members of ICCA stressed on the need for unity among them for the common cause of their communities despite differences among the parties they represented.
A total of 218 CA members had formed a group on January 31, 2010 with an
aim to incorporating the issues of indigenous nationalities of the country in the new constitution.
All the speakers representing different indigenous communities today stressed on drafting of the new constitution and concluding the peace process on time. Former chairman of the caucus Barsha Man Pun said the indigenous caucus could now take hold of the national politics.
Another former chairman of the caucus Indra Bahadur Gurung also stressed on the unity among the indigenous CA members to safeguard the rights of the indigenous people.
Incumbent Chairman of the caucus Prithivi Subba Gurung claimed that the major political parties were trying to exclude the rights of indigenous people in the constitution by diluting the issues. Therefore, the caucus must keep piling pressure on the parties not to forget the concerns of the people from the indigenous communities, he added.

KATHMANDU: Indigenous Constituent Assembly (CA) members have stressed for unity among them no matter what difference they have.
They said this after the inauguration of the office of Caucus of Indigenous Constituent Assembly members on Friday and asserted that doubts among have to be dispelled for constitution drafting.
While maintaining that the new constitution has to be promulgated on time, they have united to struggle for the rights of indigenous communities.
Those speaking on the occasion are former chairman of Caucus Barsha Man Pun and Indra Bahadur Gururng as well as Prithivi Subba Gurung.
The Caucus office was inaugurated by CA Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang.
